Rules and Regulations
1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27) A ball is deemed out of bounds if it lies outside any of the boundaries towards any public road, or the fencing towards the driving range, or on or within the clubhouse, practice putting green or surrounding tarmacadam areas, or any other boundary of the course defined by white stakes.
2. INTERNAL OUT OF BOUNDS
a. 11th 13th & 15th holes - ground to the left of the white stakes is Out of Bounds.
b. 5th hole - ground to the right of the white stakes is out of bounds. Please note, LADIES may play onto the 4th fairway beyond an imaginary line drawn between the red/white stake and the clubhouse flagpole, but must give priority to players on the 4th tee.
3. MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-1) Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.
4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-2)
a. All staked trees and any trees or shrubs less than 1 club length in height.
b. Fixed sprinkler heads. In addition: if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and such an obstruction on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball, intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may obtain relief as follows:- the ball shall be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay which (i) is not nearer the hole (ii) avoids such intervention, and (iii) is not in a hazard or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when so lifted.
c. Wooden surrounds to tee boxes or paths, yardage markers, fences and waste bins.
d. The pump house on the 17th hole.
e. The menhir stones on the 10th and 17th hole (Rule 24-2b).
f. All artificially constructed paths and course furniture.
g. The sewage plant, dustbin store and compressed air cleaner.
h. The Jack A'Court Memorial Stone on the 9th hole. NOTE: A drop without penalty maybe taken within one club-length of the nearest point of relief and no nearer the hole, in accordance with Rule 24-2.
i. White stakes or boundary ditch markers which have no relevance to the hole being played and which interfere with the player's stance or intended swing.
5. LATERAL WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26-1)
Defined by red stakes. Provisional Ball (Appendix 1 - Local Rule 2b) 26-1. Permitting the play of a provisional ball for a ball which may be in a water hazard of such character that if the original ball is not found, there is reasonable evidence that it is lost in the water hazard and it would be impractical to determine whether the ball is in the hazard or to do so would unduly delay play. The ball shall be played provisionally under any of the available options under Rule 26-1. In such a case, if a provisional ball is played and the original ball is in a water hazard, the player may play the original ball as it lies or continue with the provisional ball in play, but may not proceed under Rule 26-1 with regard to the original ball.
6. MAXIMUM PLAYING TIME (Rule 6-7)
The maximum playing time for 18 holes of golf is 4 hours and 19 minutes. Time penalties may be incurred in competition rounds in accordance with Rule 32-1.
7. SAFETY RULE Please do not tee off if people or vehicles are within your field of play.
Club / Golf Societies
All golf societies utilising the golf facilities at Les Mielles Golf & Country Club are requested to provide an updated list of their players’ memberships with Les Mielles Golf & Country Club as of 1st March 2016 to the Admin Team. Golf societies registered with Les Mielles Golf & Country Club can book tee times under their society code. The booking may be paid for in two ways:
If the green fees are paid for by one payment then the society green fee rate is applicable.
Individual society members paying their own green fees. In this case a list of the members playing must be submitted to the booking office staff at least 48 hours in advance of the first tee time.
All golf society bookings must be confirmed by e-mail or telephone 48 hours in advance, clearly stating the number of golfers, tee times required, plus any other booking requirements, such as food. The society will be held responsible for the payment of all reserved tee times booked on behalf of its members. Golf societies will be charged for all booked green fee times slots that are not cancelled within the required 48 hour deadline for cancellations.
It is the responsibility of all golfers to repair their pitch marks, replace all divots and rake any bunkers they visit during their round. In so doing every player is improving the playing conditions for all course users.
Golf balls may only be retrieved if it does not inconvenience other golfers or slow down play. It is inconsiderate and unacceptable to spend time trying to retrieve a lost ball, particularly when the course is busy.
All members will abide by the required course etiquette and shall avoid causing damage to the course or its wildlife.
Member’s Course Etiquette
Please ensure you keep up with the group in front and not in front of the group behind.
Please ensure you are at the golf course at least 10 minutes prior to your reserved tee slot.
Please ensure that if you or any of your golfing partners lose a ball, whilst taking the allotted 5 minutes, the group behind must be called through.
If you are playing in a 4 ball group, please let groups of 2 and 3 balls through whenever possible.
Please ensure that you do not trespass on neighbouring property to retrieve your golf ball. Members involved in such an incident and whose actions come to our attention will find their membership seriously jeopardised.
Slow Play - Five ways to avoid slow play!
When you get to the green, place your bag where you will pass it on the way to the next tee - don’t leave it in front of the green and walk back to pick it up after you have holed out.
When you are on the tee, make a conscious effort to spot your playing partners’ tee shots as they land - particularly if they are off the fairway. It is often easier for you to spot a ball as a spectator than it is as a player.
After putting out wait until you reach the next tee to mark your scorecard - you can do this while your partners are driving off. Don’t stand around on the green comparing notes.
Watch the clock - check your rate of progress every two or three holes, and particularly at the turn. If you are on course for a slow round, make a conscious effort to speed things up.
Be ready to play when it is your turn. You should be preparing to play your shots while your partners are playing theirs. Playing quicker doesn’t mean rushing your game - it means being prepared.
It is the duty of any member disrupted by slow play to report the incident(s) to the Ranger/Starter or a member of staff in the club house, so that the matter can be monitored and addressed.
Membership Card Information
Members must have their membership card with them at all times when on club premises and present it as and when required. Lost cards must be reported immediately. Replacement cards can be purchased from the Administration Office at a fee of £2.50.
Members are entitled to use all of the clubs facilities, including changing room’s, Rocco’s Restaurant, the pro shop, the driving range and have free use of the putting green.
Bookings are made on a 1st come, 1st served basis and we cannot guarantee that members will be able to book any specific tee times. Members must reserve their chosen Tee Time with the Booking Office or On-line Booking System. Any Member found lending his/her membership number to a non-member will have their membership terminated.
Once a booking has been made, the member will be liable for that green fee. Cancellations made within the 48 hour minimum cancellation deadline will be refunded in full.
Advance Bookings (weekdays)
Members may reserve tee times in the booking office up to 7 days in advance on Weekdays, but bookings more than 8 days in advance must be paid for at the time of reservation. Members may reserve green fee slots for guests in advance with payment being made at the time of booking.
We would request that all golfers allow ample time to pay for green fees etc. and be ready to tee off AT LEAST ten minutes prior to their reserved tee time. The Rangers will ask golfers who turn up late to join their group as booked, FORFEITING THE HOLES ALREADY PLAYED.
Adverse Weather Policy
When the course is open but the weather conditions are questionable and a golfer(s) makes the decision to play a 9 hole round of golf and the weather worsens and the golfer(s) decides not to continue, no refund will be given.
As before, but the golfer(s) chooses to play an 18 hole round; if the golfer(s) comes off the course during or at the end of the front 9 holes, a refund of an 18 hole round less the cost of a 9 hole round will be given.
As above, but the golfer(s) chooses to play an 18 hole round but come off the course during the back 9 holes, no refund will be given.
When the course is closed, no golfer may play on the course and all bookings are cancelled. It is then up to the individuals concerned to re-book their golf slots. Refunds in the form of credits to a member’s account would only be given to those with pre-paid golf slots.
Unpaid Sundries & Green Fee Payments
All purchases of sundries or merchandise MUST be paid for at the time of purchase. No credit will be given.Member’s Must Pay for all Green Fees Prior to their Booked Tee Time.
Advanced Green Fee payments may be made by telephone or via the internet booking system.
Members must ensure they are ready to play at least 10 minutes prior to their booked tee time.
The Director of Golf reserves the absolute right to expel any member from the course or clubhouse where it appears that the member’s conduct requires such action to be taken and to cancel the membership if it necessitates.
Mobile phones may only be taken on the course in “silent mode”. Members will be notified in an emergency.
All Members shall play golf in accordance with the Rules of Golf as stated by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and shall comply with any Local Rules in force as displayed on our Les Mielles scorecard or in the Clubhouse.
The member acknowledges that he/she plays golf on the course entirely at his/her own risk, and Les Mielles Golf Course Limited shall in no way be held responsible for any damage, injury, or expense caused to him/her or their property whilst on the premises.
It is compulsory for all members to take up the Public Liability Insurance scheme and this is included in their Annual Subscription.
Members must accept that Club/Society or other Tournaments bookings agreed with the Director of Golf will be given priority over bookings for individual members.
The Director of Golf will endeavour to have the course in a good state of play at all times but the member must acknowledge that the Ground Staff give no warranty or assurance as to the condition of the course at any given time.
Four Ball Slots
All Golf Bookings are sold as 4 balls. The management reserves the right to fill each slot.
Members must give way to Ground Staff who maybe working on the course at any time.
Maximum Playing Time
There are maximum playing times for both 9 or 18 hole rounds of golf. The maximum playing time for the front nine (South Course) is 2 hours, 13 minutes and the maximum playing time for the back nine (North Course) is 2 hours, 6 minutes. You will find notice boards detailing these times and the Slow Play Rules throughout the course.
Please complete your round of golf within the maximum playing time-band. Any player found not to have completed their first 9 hole round of golf within the maximum time limit may forfeit their right to continue playing the next 9 holes. They will only be able to continue at the discretion of the Ranger and when a slot becomes available with no inconvenience to other golfers.
It is the responsibility of all golfers to ensure that they are aware of their back nine starting time and this should be verified by the Ranger prior to starting. Any group that exceeds the maximum playing time and are unable to continue on the course will not be entitled to a refund.
All complaints of any description must be submitted in writing to the Director of Golf within 7 days of any incident or event. Please note that Les Mielles employees are not authorised to deal with complaints verbally.
No Show Bookings
Bookings made either via the internet, phone or in person are the responsibility of the member whose Membership Number was used to make the booking; whether they made the booking themselves or it was made for them by a second party.
Cancellations may be made with the Booking Office in person, by telephone or e-mail or through the answer phone facility during out of office times. If a member does not turn up for their booked Tee Time and has not cancelled the booking they will be charged for this No Show Tee Time.
Any Member failing to pay their No Show booking charges will have their Membership booking privileges suspended until payment is made in full. All members are able to access all bookings made using their Membership number through our internet booking system.
Thunder and Lightning
In the event of Thunder and Lightning being overhead the claxon will be sounded. Once the claxon has been sounded all golfers must leave the golf course. The responsibility for not doing so rests with the player. Golfers are advised to mark their ball and vacate the course immediately, once the thunder and lightning has passed and it is safe to do so, golfers may return to the course and resume play.
